Tom Powrie    DOB: 6/8/85

After graduating from the RNZYS Youth Training Programme in 2006, I joined BlackMatch Racing as Trimmer. While not racing with BlackMatch I have completed two deliveries from Fiji to New Zealand and in 2006 competed in the Around North Island (New Zealand) race on Ran Tan II (Elliot 50 canting-keel racer) as trimmer/helmsman. I also sail on the Farr40 Mean Machine as offside trimmer.
 
I have completed the coursework requirements for a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Auckland, and will graduate on completion of practical work experience. I am currently employed at Southern Spars as a composite spar manufacturer. My ISAF Sailor Classification is category 1 (amateur).
